Joshua Tree National Park to break ground on observatory  9/19/2007 - PE.com

Construction on an observatory and nature center adjacent to Joshua Tree National Park in Twentynine Palms will soon get underway, and a groundbreaking ceremony has been planned to celebrate the occasion.

Hikes in Joshua Tree National Park  5/8/2007 - ProTrails.com

This hiking website recently added several hiking trails in JTree.  While the details on finding trailheads aren't always as helpful as they could be, and the "Trail Maps" are simply the NPS map of the entire park, there are some good photos and well-written descriptions of the area and of the hikes.

Cost of camping increases  3/1/2007 - The Desert Sun

The cost of camping out at Joshua Tree National Park will go up an average of $5 per night beginning today...
"The per-night camping fee will rise from $5 to $10 at Hidden Valley, Ryan, Jumbo Rocks, Belle and White Tank campgrounds,'' Zarki said. "Family campsites at Indian Cove, Black Rock, and Cottonwood campgrounds will increase from $10 to $15 per night.''

Joshua Tree climbing video  8/15/2006 - Adventure Online TV

Look for the "Adventure Film Series" video called "Climbing Joshua Tree."  The film shows climbers on Toe Jam, Overhang Bypass, and North Overhang.  We got a kick out of the scene where the climber on the upper part of Overhang Bypass is climbing up the rope rather than the rock.
