Camping / Climbing Equipment for Joshua Tree

So you’re finally going to make that week long climbing trip out to Josh!  Well now, here are a few things you might want to throw into the back of the vehicle to make camp life more enjoyable:

Clothing:                        ( Adventure Clothing for women and clothing for men at REI)

            Tee shirt

            Shorts

Long sleeve shirt (for those cooler days)

            Long climbing pants

            Ball cap/climbing cap

            Jacket (for cool evenings)

Wind shell (for cool windy afternoons)

Light weight gloves (for cool evenings)

Extra underwear (for after those death defying routes)

Keeping Clean & Healthy:Ahhh, happiness is a warm wash cloth!

Wash cloth (dipped in heated water, placed on the face in the AM is great!)

Bath towel (you are going to bathe aren’t you?)

Solar shower (feels great after a hard day of climbing)

Toothbrush, toothpaste,  floss (be considerate of your climbing partners)

“No Rinse” shampoo (try it, you’ll like it)

Liquid Hand Sanitizer (Kill them germs!)

            Personal hygiene articles

Toilet paper (just in case someone stole 10 rolls from the closest restroom)

            First Aid kit

Pain killer (ibuprofen – “Vitamin I”, aspirin, Yukon Jack, etc.)

Cooking & Eating:                                 ( Gear up for camping! at REI )

Water (multiple 1-2.5 gallon containers – fill at entrance station)

            Stove/Fuel (propane is convenient)

            Pots/pans

            Cooking/eating utensils

            Paper plates

            Paper towels

            Knife/cutting board

Colander (handy for pastas and those delicious salads)

Bottle opener (those beer bottle caps are hard on the teeth!)

Corkscrew (for screwing around in camp)

            Plastic trash bags

Stuff to clean up those pots & pans

            Cooler

Sleeping:

Tent & fly (if tent camping – hey, it may rain!)    ( 3 Season Tents at REI)

            Cookies (remember, you’re on vacation)

Chocolate (the foundation of the food pyramid)

            Gatorade/Sports drinks  (keep hydrated)

Beer/Spirits (to counteract the effects of the Gatorade)

Have we left anything out?  You probably don’t have any room left in your vehicle anyway.   Send us your list and we’ll make this one better.
